Making a Difference By Revella Daniel, Aurora Community Advocate

It has been a blessing working in the Eastwood Community!   On Wednesdays, there are volunteers from Main Baptist Church, my partnership church, that come to the Eastwood Community Center to tutor children in my community.  A couple of Wednesdays ago, as I looked around and saw about 10 children getting help with their homework it truly blessed my heart.

As students were coming in, I saw a parent come in with her child.  She said that she wanted to know which tutor had been helping her twins. I pointed her to Mrs. Champen, a retired teacher. That parent went right over to Mrs. Champen and said to her that she truly appreciated the help that she had given to her children.

t wasn’t until the end of the tutoring session that Mrs. Champen came to me and told me how much it touched her heart to have a parent come inside specifically to tell her THANK YOU! As I listened to Mrs. Champen’s touching accounting of her conversation with that mother, God truly showed me what a blessing and difference these tutors are making in the lives of children and families in Eastwood.

You can make a difference like Mrs. Champen.  All of Riverwoods’ communities desire adults to help further the education of our youth.  Contact Revella@RiverwoodsChristianCenter.org for more how you can help in our tutoring ministry in Elgin and in Aurora.
